Publication Ethics

The Ecovisi Journal of Engineering & Technological Science (EJETS) is a peer-reviewed journal committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. This journal strictly follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines in addressing all aspects of ethical publishing, including the handling of research and publication misconduct.

This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication process authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher (EcoVisi Publisher). Preventing publication malpractice is a primary responsibility of the editorial board, and any form of unethical behavior, such as plagiarism, falsification, or fabrication of data, will not be tolerated.

EJETS adopts COPE principles to ensure the implementation of best practices in ethical publishing. The publisher does not interfere with editorial decisions and only facilitates a fair, transparent, and timely publication process.

Duties of Authors

  • Originality and Plagiarism – Authors must ensure their manuscripts are entirely original works. If other works or words are used, proper citations must be provided. Plagiarism or self-plagiarism is strictly prohibited.
  • Data Accuracy – Authors must present accurate, reliable, and detailed research data that allows replication. Fabricated or falsified data is unacceptable.
  • Multiple or Redundant Submission – Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal at the same time.
  • Authorship Criteria – Only individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study should be listed as authors. All authors must approve the final manuscript before submission.
  • Acknowledgment of Sources – Authors must properly cite and acknowledge all sources that influenced their research.
  • Conflict of Interest – Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could affect the results or interpretation of their work.
  • Reporting of Errors – Authors who discover significant errors or inaccuracies in their published work must promptly notify the editor and cooperate in correcting or retracting the paper.
  • Confidentiality of Subjects – Authors must ensure that any personal data of research subjects is kept confidential unless explicit consent has been obtained.

Duties of Editors

  • Publication Decisions – The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for deciding which manuscripts will be published, based on quality, originality, relevance, and alignment with the journal’s scope.
  • Fair Evaluation – Editors evaluate manuscripts based solely on academic merit, without discrimination regarding race, gender, religion, nationality, or political beliefs.
  • Confidentiality – Editors must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and may only share information with the corresponding author, reviewers, and the publisher.
  • Conflict of Interest – Editors must not use unpublished information from submitted manuscripts for personal research without written permission from the author.
  • Ethical Oversight – Editors are responsible for preventing the publication of papers where misconduct has occurred, following COPE flowcharts in handling suspected breaches.
  • Reviewer Selection – Editors must select reviewers who are qualified and free from conflicts of interest with the manuscript’s authors.

Duties of Reviewers

  • Contribution to Editorial Decisions – Reviewers assist editors in making publication decisions and in improving the manuscript through constructive feedback.
  • Timeliness – Reviewers should complete their reviews within the agreed timeframe and inform the editor if unable to do so.
  • Confidentiality – Manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential and must not be shared without permission.
  • Objectivity – Reviews should be conducted impartially, avoiding personal criticism of the author.
  • Acknowledgment of Sources – Reviewers must point out relevant published works not cited by the authors and report any significant similarities with other publications.
  • Conflict of Interest – Reviewers should decline to review manuscripts if they have conflicts of interest due to competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with the authors or related institutions.

Publisher’s Responsibilities

  • Editorial Independence – The publisher upholds editorial independence and does not interfere with editorial decisions.
  • Ethical Compliance – The publisher ensures compliance with ethical standards and supports the integrity of the academic record.
  • Preservation of the Scholarly Record – The publisher ensures proper archiving and facilitates corrections or retractions when necessary.
  • Support for Best Practices – The publisher promotes adherence to COPE guidelines and other recognized international ethical standards.
