Plagiarism Policy
The Ecovisi Journal of Engineering & Technological Science (EJETS) is committed to publishing only original and high-quality research that has not been previously published elsewhere and is free from all forms of plagiarism or unethical copying. This policy is established to safeguard the integrity of scholarly publications and is aligned with the ethical guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:
- Copying text, formulas, figures, datasets, or ideas from another source without proper citation.
- Paraphrasing substantial parts of another work without acknowledgment.
- Self-plagiarism or duplicate publication of the author’s previously published work without proper disclosure or permission.
Plagiarism Detection
- All manuscripts that pass the editorial desk screening will be checked for similarity using Turnitin, iThenticate, or equivalent plagiarism detection software before entering the peer review or production process.
- A maximum similarity index of 20–25% (excluding references, quotations, and standard technical/methodology descriptions) is permitted. Manuscripts exceeding this threshold will be returned to the authors for revision or rejected outright.
Plagiarism Declaration
Every author is required to submit a signed Plagiarism-Free Statement together with the manuscript. This statement must be uploaded as an additional file through the Open Journal System (OJS) or sent via email to the editorial office.
Editorial Action in Case of Plagiarism
- Before Publication: Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism during the review process will be rejected immediately.
- After Publication: If plagiarism is detected after an article has been published, it will be retracted, and a formal retraction notice will be posted on the journal’s website.
- Authors found guilty of plagiarism may be prohibited from submitting to EJETS for a certain period, depending on the severity of the misconduct.
Author Responsibilities
- Authors must ensure the originality of their work and provide proper citations for all sources used.
- Authors must secure permission to reproduce any copyrighted material and be prepared to show proof of such permission upon request.
Ethical Standards
This plagiarism policy follows COPE best practices to ensure that EJETS maintains the highest standards of academic integrity, promoting trust, transparency, and credibility in the global research community.
