Plagiarism Policy
The Ecovisi Journal of Economics, Business & Finance (EJEBF) is committed to publishing only original works that have not been previously published and are free from any form of plagiarism or unethical copying. This policy ensures the integrity of academic publishing and follows the ethical guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:
- Copying text, ideas, figures, or data from another source without proper citation.
- Paraphrasing substantial portions of another’s work without acknowledgment.
- Self-plagiarism or duplicate publication of the author’s own previously published work without disclosure or permission.
Plagiarism Detection
- All manuscripts that pass the editorial desk evaluation will be screened for similarity using plagiarism detection software such as Turnitin or iThenticate before proceeding to the peer review or production stage.
- A maximum similarity index of 20–25% (excluding references, quotations, and standard methodology descriptions) is permitted. Manuscripts exceeding this threshold will be returned to authors for revision or rejected.
Plagiarism Declaration
Every author is required to submit a signed Plagiarism-Free Statement along with the manuscript. This declaration can be uploaded via the Open Journal System (OJS) as an additional file or sent via email to the editorial office.
Editorial Action in Case of Plagiarism
- Before Publication: If plagiarism is detected during the review process, the manuscript will be rejected immediately.
- After Publication: If plagiarism is found after publication, the article will be retracted, and a formal notice of retraction will be issued on the journal’s website.
- Authors found to have committed plagiarism may be prohibited from submitting to EJEBF for a certain period, depending on the severity of the violation.
Author Responsibilities
- Authors must ensure the originality of their work and provide proper citations for all sources used.
- Authors must obtain permission to reproduce any copyrighted material and be able to provide proof of such permission upon request.
Ethical Standards
This plagiarism policy aligns with COPE standards to maintain the highest level of academic integrity and to foster trust within the scholarly community.
